Iv'e got two new storm windows, cheap and on sale of course, that are not the same dimension as the original. I have removed the trim and plan on replacing the board under the trim board with a wider board, thus making up the difference in order to nail my storm.

Is this common practise in lieu of special ordering the exact dimensional storm???
