If I decide to go with a 4" baseboard and identical door trims and mouldings, how do I deal with corners that just do not have 4" of width to trim? I asked a question a few weeks ago if there may be ideas on how to avoid door trims altogether seems there is no clear solutions.

So how is a situation like this typically dealt with when there is just no room for the standard trim?

Either use a narrower trim or rip what you have to fit the space available.

That pretty much sums it up. If you go with 4" trim, it will have to be scribed to fit. That would look pretty ugly / busy in the corner where two cut pieces would have to meet. So you might want to use standard 2 1/4" casing and avoid that problem altogether.

Another option would be to resize those door openings so that they are a bit smaller, if that's possible / desirable.
