Doors and Windows - Pocket Door Trim

I have to install the trim around a newly installed pocket door. (Contractor has left for parts unknown). It seens to me that I should "sandwich" the door at both ends and along the top to prevent wobbeling.

Any hints?

In your package of pocket door hardware there should be some tapered plastic guides that get installed near the bottom of the opening that the door slides through. One guide goes on each side of the door jamb near the floor and they keep the door centered as it slides in and out. The guides must ride on the very bottom corners of the door, and they are best installed after the top rollers have been adjusted for height with the wrench that is also included with the hardware.

If your door is a good, plumb fit at the closed end then you could omit the trim on that vertical jamb. I just remodeled and installed several pocket doors and didn't place any trim pieces on the closed side vertical jambs. I think it looks much better. IMHO
