Doors and Windows - Steel,wood or fiberglass.

My front door faces south. The heat between my storm door and steel door has ruined the plastic [cracked] and the silicone has ozzed out of the two glass panels. I cleaned the silicone with thinners and ruined the paint. I would try to get new plastic and repaint the door but when it was spray painted they painted over the manufactures sticker. With all the heat I think a steel door would not swell as much as wood or fiberglass. any thoughts? thanks.

Color makes a big difference on steel. The door to the shed outside my office faces east and was nearly impossible to open on sunny summer mornings until we painted over the dark brown with a lighter tan.
