I would like to poor basement this year, back fill, install drain tile and let settle for a year or two. The basement will be three sided and two sides will step down near the front. My question is do I need to brace the center of the side walls while back filling and letting things settle in ? Basement is 24x36.

Brace all the walls you backfill. Use clean soil - not clay or "dirt".
