How or what type of cement should I use to get a smooth finish on the top. The last time I poured cement on a 2 X 2 area it came out kind of rocky on top. Is there one type of cement that will finish smoother than others, as long as it is still stong

You have to work the surface before the mixture hardens to get a smooth top. I'm guessing you basically poured and walked away.

Yeh i basically poured the concrete and flattened the top. How do you work the surface, just trowel it around? I went to Lowes and they have 2 different kinds.
