I feel ridiculous asking this but on the outside chance that there is, when I paint a gas lamp that is in my front yard what type of paint do I need to use? The lamp sometimes gets hot and I wondered if I needed a specific type of paint for this job. The lamp came with my house and it has been almost 10 years that we have lived here and the black paint is beginning to fade. The lamp is in the middle of the yard in full sun exposure all day. Thanks. Andy

If you still want it painted black, I think paint for a B.B.Q may be the best bang for your buck. Good Luck, R

Engine enamel should work also. Have a good one. Geo

Any exterior oil base enamel will work fine for the post but the metal that is closest to the flame will need a heat resistant paint like those mentioned above.

Thanks so much. I appreciate all of your help. I was afraid I would put something on the lamp and come home to find a flame thrower in my front yard.
