My non-monitored DSC system recently started alerting me to a low battery condition, near as I can tell (trouble code "1" on the PC5010 screen when I press *2, then 1 again when I press 1). This seems to refer to the system backup battery, not a zone battery, but i tested the backup battery and it's showing 13.5volts, which is above the 12.5volt threshold that's supposed to trip this alarm.
My real question is, can i disable the trouble alert? every 10 minutes or so, the panel seems to become reaware that the battery is low, and the keypad starts beeping every 10seconds...needless to say, that's not working out for me.
I disconnected the battery, which definitely caused it to stop reporting the low battery, but now of course when the powerfails, it starts beeping because the clock got reset. So i'd settle for disabling *that* trouble code instead, or even just disabling the "Beep when a trouble occurs".....
Are any of these possibilities? I'm reluctant to replace the battery since I don't think that's the issue, though if someone can point me to a dirt cheap replacement battery for this system, I might give it a shot.
I do have the installer code for this system.

You can get these batteries at most home centers for about $20. Just because you get good voltage at the battery, doesn't mean it's getting the proper amps. I would replace it.

Also, if you tested the battery unloaded, you would not get a true test, likewise if you tested it connected to the panel charging circuit (you would read the battery charger output). The real test is to disconnect the AC power then read the battery.
No, there is no way to turn off the battery test/trouble indication.

thanks, both of you... did not consider the issues of testing the battery unloaded. Also good to know i can stop sifting through my manuals looking for a way to disable the trouble/check.
I do wish there was a way to at least silence the beeps associated with the trouble though, as it's rather disconcerting (and annoying) to be awoken at 3am by your alarm panel, only to find it just wants to let you know the backup battery is failing.
oh well, i'll give the new battery a shot..thanks again.
