My friends daughter recently had a bloody nose in the middle of the night while she was sleeping. Does anyone know how we can remove the blood stain from her mattress?

the tools that I use for these kinds of stains are: old toothbrush, Shout and baking soda

spray the area with shout, add some baking soda and scrub with an old toothbrush. this combination has taken out a lot of stains that my household has created (grease on a brand new light carpet from my husband)

Cold water or even ice, sometimes works by itself. I have success with hydrogen peroxide (dabbing with a clean rag/towel), then rinse with cold water. A new tip I learned recently was dissolving a denture cleaning tablet in water, then while it's fizzing, dab it on. Also Dawn dishwashing liquid and Greased Lightning can work. Try the water first, then try any of the above you may have around. The person's spit that the blood was from, can also remove their own blood.

I use hydrogen peroxide for blood stains.

stick to cold water if its super fresh...hydrogen peroxide when its dry. Blot outside in to prevent spreading. If its really old a rust remover as a final step may remove the last of the coloring.
