We have a split AC system. Downstairs unit is noisy. It sounds like the lines are vibrating in the walls - although you cannot feel any vibration. The AC repair company have so far - added a PAD under the unit, added a hood to the Compressor, Replaced the Compresor, Capacitor and Dryer/Filter, but still the same noise. Upstairs unit is smaller, but is silent.
The next suggested repair is they are looking to install a bunch of copper pipework, connected to the lines, buried in the ground under the outside unit to 'de-hammer' the noise.
Not seen or heard of this technique before, so i was wondering if the forum had any knowledge of this approach to quiet the unit or any other suggestions?
