I was wondering what to do............I had a tart burner going on a table sitting on a wool/felt penny runner that I love. I think someone bumped it and spilled the wax during a labor day party we had the other day. I haven't tried anything on it yet. I heard about the ice method and was wondering if anyone had any other tricks. I really want to save this runner. It has a black background and the wax was a rusty color.
Thank you,

I used Goof-Off to remove candle wax that dripped all over a kilim rug when we were using candles during a power outage. It was time consuming but I tried it after attempting to use ice. I later tried ironing it onto brown paper which didn't work on wool.
I would be very careful about the color fading, though. I had some problems with the color of the red wax remaining on the ivory part of my rug. The red color of the wax did come out on the darker parts: navy, green, black, etc.

Thank you hcmcm. I have never heard off Goof-off. Is is something that you buy in a hardware store? I will have to look for it. I am not too worried about the color since it is mostly black. I will give it a try.

Get all of the wax off by hand that you can first. Goof Off will probably work, but I'd go cheap and just use mineral spirits myself. As always, test in an inconspicuous spot first to test color fastness.

Goof Off is available almost anywhere. WalMart has it and hardware stores have it. I've seen it in grocery stores, too.
