Help,
I have installed a duct free split in July 2006. A month later the system started to leak on and off.
*Yes I have checked the drain pan for cracks and yes it is clean and yes I have checked the drain line and I have blown it.
The system leaks when its humid in the house. The leak is dripping from the upper left side of the unit - near the fan. Im thinking that the water is coming the top coil and leaking on the left side. My drain hose is on the right side.
Note: The installation book requires 6 inches from the ceiling, the installers did not take that advice. The system is installed maybe 2 and half inches from the ceiling.
My thoughts,
Installation problem, level problem, ....
Thank you

Might check and see if the drip is from the big copper line . going out to the condenser. That should be cold and wet. If the black foam is not over it all there inside it can drip

Thanks for the reply,
But the copper line that you refer to is on the right of the system. The leak is on the left.
I had another technician come yesterday and bassiclly said that the system was to small - 12,000 BTU - He asked at what temperture I kept my A/C. I said I kept at the lowest possible 16 degrees and on turbo constently.
He thinks that the system might be icing up a little on the top and then starts leaking on the left side from the top.
He suggested maybe a 18,000 BTU would help.
My house is 15,000 sq feet, bungalow.
Any comments ?
Thank you

Dont know the house but 1 ton for 1500 sq ft is to small Id say. But that dont help the ice on the coil. Even if too small the unit should not ice up. charge is to low. Are like he said the air dont get to the coil right. As I said dont know the home are where you are but 1500sq ft home 2 or 2 1/2 ton most of the time. Thats a 24,000 or 30,000 btu
