I would like to add the upstairs interior motion sensor to the "Instant" setting on my Safewatch 2000. We do not have sensors on the upstairs windows so the motion sensor is the only means of detecting intrusion. When we go to Instant at night, it does not arm the Motion Sensor, in effect making the upstairs unprotected. Is there a way to do this and still have the Entry/Exit Delay set to Off?

Your help will be greatly appreciated. ADT wants to charge a min of $87 dollars to have a tech come out and change it.

You don't have to jump through all those hoops: Arm in "maximum" mode ([code] + 4). This will arm with no entry delay, and all perimeter _and_ interior zones armed. It's in your user manual, it's just rarely used.

MrRon, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the Safewatch 2000 and 3000 manuals do not list that Maximum setting as an option. That would be perfect for what I want.

The 3000 has a setting in the manual called Night-Stay but that does not seem to work when keyed into the pad as [Code] +3 +3.

This leaves me with either adding that function somehow or modifying the [Instant] setting. Any suggestions? I'm beginning to think that the tech was an idiot when he installed this system. He didn't even leave a manual, just a 2 page cheat sheet for a completely different system.

The Safewatch 2000 is a modified Ademco Vista 20se. Give the command a try. I can see that they don't have it in the user manual for the ADT version, but that may be because that is a setting that is prone to false alarms due to user error. It's pretty hardcoded into the system, so it wouldn't surprise me if it works.

I don't think max works on these, don't ask why they would disable it? We are talking about big blue here. Night Stay will only work if you build a night stay zone list with the motion's zone number in it. You can change the zone type in programming to a perimeter or Zone Type 3 and it will be active in instant.

Your right that Max does not work. Hitting [code] stay stay does not turn on night mode as described in the manual. You said that the Zone list must be set up, is this something that I can do as the homeowner or do I have to have a tech do it? Thank you so much for your advice.

The easiest thing to do would be to alter the programming. You will need to know what the zone number is for the motion. Once you find this let me know and I'll post how to change the attributes of the zone.

The motion detector is zone 10.

Thanks for your help. This will make my wife happier once completed.

I was afraid it would be on an expander. What type of keypad do you have? Does it say Disarmed Ready to Arm on the screen or just Ready or Not Ready?
You really need an Alpha keypad to do this since the zone is on an expander. It can be done but would be tough to explain to you what to look for.

It's either on a hardwire or wireless expander. In either case, you need to be able to get into zone programming. This is very difficult to pull off without having the alphanumeric keypad.

That's okay guys. Zone 10 is a wireless unit. The keypad says Ready of Not Ready on the readout and what zone isn't.

I don't have access to an Alpha keypad. It sounds like if I mess it up I will have to pay someone a large sum to come and fix my mistakes. Should I walk away and just leave it alone?

It isn't that hard, I hate to ask but anyway you could PM your phone number and I can walk you through it by asking you what you see. I am in the EST so take that in mind. If you want let me know a good time to ring you.

Thanks Chief... I will send you the message in a couple of days. When I know that I will be home.
