I have ADT with Ademco Vista 20SE system at home. I also have a highspeed broadband wired/wireless network with Comast as my ISP.
1. Does anyone make equipment that would attach to my Vista 20SE so that, in case of a telephone line failure, ADT could be notified of an alarm via the internet using my existing network?
2. Is ADT equipped to receive alarms via the internet?
3. IF ADT does not offer such a service and/or hardware, have you heard of any other monitoring systems that offer backup monitoring via the internet without going to VOIP?
Any ideas of suggestions?
Thanks,
Robert

There are plenty of alternatives. The best piece of equipment for you is going to be an Alarmnet device, such as 7845I-GSM which communicates over the internet. It's actually a triple path device, so if the internet is down it will try to use GSM via GPRS and SMS technology. This will probably cost you up to $15 a month more for the service, plus the equipment, assuming your monthly is about $20 now.
There is also the 7845-GSM which leaves out the internet. Equipment is less. These need to be done through the monitoring dealer, so ADT is your best choice probably, unless your contract is up.
Other choices are a VOIP module or digital radio/cellular. Equipment prices vary, but the monthly will probably be the same no matter which way you go. These could be through ADT or a seperate dealer, as far as the monthly. The equipment can be do it yourself. Vontronix is the VOIP equipment, and the major player in digital cellular is Telular, followed by Uplink.
With Alarmnet, the monitoring station has to be set up with Alarment and have an Alarmnet receiver. Alarment receives the signals and retransmits them instantaneously to the monitoring station. They bill the monitoring station, who in turn bills the dealer. The Vontronix, Telular and Uplink all bill the dealer directly.

ADT only uses the Telguard at this time. It is a GSM solution that is compatible with virtually any panel. We use the Alarmnet-GSM and Alarmnet-I and the alarmneti-GSM for the ademco panels. We have also begun using Total Connect from Honeywell that utilizes the alarmnet-GSM to access your panel remotely from any web enabled computer. You can also receive e-mails and arm and disarm your system from a cell phone.

I installed it myself. It is just an alarmnet-gsm with a firmware upgrade. The company I work for offers this service.

I am looking for the service. What is your company name. Can you arm and disarm the system using SMS on your cell phone? Thanks.
