I'm curious as to why, when it's quite hot outside, the indoor blower and the outside fan will run, but the compressor won't start (thereby not cooling at all). Then later, when it's cooler, the a/c will run normally and produce cooling.

Why would the outside temp. affect the compressor start? Perplexing since this happens when you need a/c the most!!

When is the last time you had the condensor "outside unit" cleaned ? It may be impacted with dirt causing the compressor to kick out due to high head pressure.

Thanks for the reply. What would be the best way to clean it?

Don't answer this! I posted the same question in another thread and you answered.
"...use coil cleaner and hose from inside out...etc."

Thanks Mattison!!

If the cleaning don't help, then the compressor maybe had a bad temp switch.
