Okay, I just read up on past posts dealing with Air Handler blower issues and all of you have helped tremendously. I have just a few more questions that need to be answered. I have a Goodman Indoor Air Handler (Model #A30-08), about 7 years old. I have a digital tstat. A/C Unit works fine outside.

It is a crap shoot for when my blower will turn on or not. I replaced the Capacitor ($89) on Saturday (4 days ago). As soon as I replaced it the blower turned on no problem several times in a row, so I was happy. Until this morning when I noticed the tstat saying the fan should be on, but it wasn't. So I go into my attic, wiggle some wires (after cutting the power), act like i know what I'm doing and bam it works after turning the power/tstat back on. This has been my dance with Goodman for about 4 months now. The filter and coils are clean, the fan is as clean as its going to get without polish, and the wiring seems fairly clean (don't see any carbon build up or shorting out).

I REALLY do not want to spend $320 on a new motor when the one i have seems to turn/run just fine. After reading your past posts, I am now educated on "Time Delay Control Relay for Blower" ($143.22); however, not so educated on the "Jumping R to G??" or "Touch G to RH??" or "Transformer?" ($159.90) or "Control Board?" ($298.00).

What are these parts? How do I narrow down my options here? What order should I check/purchase things? And I have included prices to ask if these seem fair to you? And finally, why does me wiggling wires work 90% of the time?

Thanks for all your help!

A very common failure on Goodmans is the blower realy/fan delay. What they use what is actually an electric heat sequencer. If you feel comfortable working around electricity, the next time it won't start check to see if you have power going to the motor from the fan relay[using a voltmeter]. When it won't start is the motor hot or cold? Hot = motor problem Cold = power not getting to the motor.

Thanks John for the quick reply. I am currently at work and will test the hot/cold motor when I get home.

In the mean time, I have a gut feeling it is one of the delay/relay parts; however, I have two choices. One is the "Time Delay Control Relay for Blower (Part #Z13-A30-08-84GMW)" - $143.22; and Two is the "Fan Relay (Part #Z1-A30-08-33GMW)" - $132.12.

If I find that no power is going the motor, which of these parts do you think may be malfunctioning? You kinda mention both in your reply and I just want to be 100% sure before I spend money on the wrong part. Also, do these prices seem fair?

Thanks again.

however, not so educated on the "Jumping R to G??" or "Touch G to RH??" or "Transformer?"

R is like the hot or power to the tstat . So R to anyother wire in the tstat should make that come on. So R to G should make the inside blower run.

So I go into my attic, wiggle some wires (after cutting the power), act like i know what I'm doing and bam it works after turning the power/tstat back on.

Check all wire nuts or where the 24V wires go on a screw in the blower unit. With power on wiggle the wires somesee what happens

The prices quoted sounds pretty steep if you ask me. Are these from a mechanical supply house or where? Relays/sequences should be way cheaper than that, in less there is something I don't know about your unit or area you live in. Entire complex control boards that have all kinds of terminal connections, relays, timers and who know what all that stuff is, can be had for like $125 around here, anyway.

thanks ecman51... They seemed steep to me too. I read on one post that a relay could be as cheap as $14?? Is that true? I found the prices I quoted from an a/c appliance website, so it is not area specific.

Any ideas where I should look? I am assuming the parts have to be Goodman manufacturing... or are they universal?

Thanks for your help.
