I am trying to install a new Brinks keypad on my system and receive the error code "CF" even though the keypad has never been used. Do the keypads have to be "Programmed" before being added to the system?

Brinks systems are very proprietary so I don't have much info to give you just that most keypads you have to set the "address" of the keypad, which requires getting into programming.

CF does mean "component failure".

Did the old one work ok?

You might want to hold on until a pro stops in, but you might have to call Brinks and see if they will even help you.

Yes, Brinks keypads have to be addressed into the system. It's _very_ propriatory. You need their programmer and manuals, which are hard to come by.

My general rule with Brinks hardware: Either accept that you have to use their service, or replace the keypads and control with an open system.
