We have a Trane dual heat pump system in NC. The HVAC contractor serviced our units this Spring and turned our fan speeds up to high from medium. We have noticed an increase in air flow, but also noise. We haven't been able to determine if they are more efficeint (it's been a longer and hotter than normal Summer) We wondered if this would shorten the life span of the units and if this would be a problem in the Winter as far as comfort. Any thoughts or recommendations? I didn't see how he turned the units fan speed up, I assume there is some sort of switch? Thanks in advance.

Do you have a V/S blower there??? If so then he did it with the DIP switches in the blower unit. If other you can have a 3 or 4 speed blower motor and he just changed speeds on it. If you have like a 3 ton AC then you can have 1200 CFM there . (shorten the life span) No Some run 24/7. Also it should slow down some when you go to heat.
