Hi-
First post, hope it goes well.
Basics: 12'x20' deck, 2x10 joists on 12" centers. 3 2x10 for beam, posts 6x6 spaced 6'. Beam at 11', leaving a 1' overhang.
I want to add a shed roof over the deck for screened in porch. I had hoped to run the post supports for the deck down to the end of the joists. My concern is that the load of the roof will be carried by the cantilever portion of the deck (1' cantilever). Is this do able or do I need to run posts all the way to the ground, or somehow line up the roof support with the beam??
I've looked around on the net and tried looking through books at home depot but have had no luck finding plans or recommendations on this.
