I am thinking about going with a Santa Fe dehumidifier (the one for rated for large basements) to replace 2 Whirlpool 70 pt units I am using now. I am trying to reduce the amount of electricity I am using with these units and since the Santa Fe is rated lower (6.8 amps) vs the two Whirlpools at about 16 amps, it seems like in the long run the more expensive santa fe will pay for itself.

Do you think the Santa Fe will be able to keep up with my basement which is pretty large (Slightly over 2000 sq feet). I don't want to get it and find that it is running non-stop, which would defeat the purpose of switching in the first place since my Whirlpools probably run about 50% of the time each.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!

myork28 - Did you get the Sante Fe? If so, how did it turn out? I am in the same situation as you.
