I have a brushed stainless steel "vessel" in my powder room which has ugly brownish stains on one side that look like dried water drops, but are not. They do not come off with stainless steel cleaner or soap and water--even with hard rubbing. Any ideas how to deal with these yukky stains?
Many thanks.

almost sounds like iron deposits...some stainless steel depending on the grade can/will rust
BUT a rust remover is acedic..which can damage the stainless...so i would try very very fine steel wool...i would rub in the same pattern as the finish just in case..then clean again/polish
