I had a brand new 5 ton Rudd 14 seer unit installed a couple of months ago. Yesterday, on a very hot day, the outside blower didn't kick on when the inside unit turned on. This is the second time this has happened in a month. We have the contact switch changed the first time. I called the A/C installer, who asked me to check the breaker in the basement(we had allot of elctricity on in the morning, and also were in the outside spa when the blower didn't kick on). While the breaker did not appear to be tripped, I turned it to off, left it for a couple of minutes, put it back on, and the outside blower came back on. I always thought a breaker had to look "tripped" to be tripped but maybe not. My thought is to get the breaker checked by and electrician, but I'm also wondering, could there maybe be too much going on the house electric wise, and not enough "juice"? I built this house 10 years ago, with 150 amp, and the A/C replacement,is the same tonage(5 tons) as the old one, though the seer is higher at 14. Of course, I suppose it could also be something with my outside unit. Any ideas?

What is the model # of the new unit?

150 amps service for a house with a Spa (hot tub?), and 5 ton A/C is pushing it for you.

Almost sounds like the outdoor unit is locking out on you for something. but I'll wait till you post back the model # and I can see what you got for controls outside.

The outside unit is a Rudd UAPC 14 SEER. 060JAZ Iis the actual #. I had an old Comfort Air 10 SEER, but it never tripped off(though the Jacuzzi has on occassion).

Thanks Alot for your insight; I'm going to call an electrician for his opinion, but wanted to be more educated before I did that and get someone's opinion who knows more than me about this.
