Solid Hardwood, Engineered and Laminate Flooring - Wood Tile Transition

We had engineered wood installed a year ago and the t-moldings between it and the tile floors has taken a beating. It was never installed very evenly in the first place. Any opinions on removing it and just caulking the gap between instead? If the gap is too big, are there any other transitions recommended? I'd love to have the two floors meet and even though thercan be wood expansion or contraction, I'm sure I've seen this before - maybe in a fancy hotel.

I installed laminate floors before and the t-molding I used with that was very flat and provided a smooth transition between the tile and laminate. Why is the t-molding for wood so bulky? I guess I could use laminate t-molding that matches the wood.

Any thoughts or opinions?
