Hi I'm new to this forum and sure could use some good ideas.
I have a lennox central air conditioner, ( I think about 12 yrs old) that just started acting up. The unit will send cold air for about 5 mintues and then goes to hot air....and everything stays on. To get it to turn off, I have to click the switch that is by the furnace.
I went outside to check and the fan seems to come on and work fine, I think the condenser is coming on. The larger of the two copper hoses is hot and the smaller one is cool, like the tempature is outside. I really don't know where to look for the container that you can see bubbles in. (I think
you know what I mean). I think thatg it is under my trailer.
If it needs freon, am assuming I cant do that on my own. Am on a fixed income and need some help since it cost $90.00 for them just to come out to the door. Hopefully it wont be expensive.
Thank you for any new ideas or help that I can do.

Is this a heat pump unit ? Does the outdoor unit run for heating as well as cooling ?

No this is not a heat pump, that I know of. Live in dbl wide trailer.
No, the heating unit is in the house. It is a coleman.

The reason I ask is that the way you described the temps of the copper lines it sounds as if it's a heat pump in heating mode.
Does your t-stat have an option to switch to emergency heat ?

I dont know what the t-stat is.

Don't really know much about heating and aif condition,
and just glad I found this place with ideas and suggestion

hi all it was fixed today.
Ended up calling a professional.
It ended up being a pinched wire between where the wiring
goes into the wall by the furnace. Had to get new wireand changed the thermostat from on wall to another.
Thank you very much for all the suggestion.
