What tool can I use to cut a 2 x 4 (4' long)? I need it cut length wise at an angle.

If I understand correctly, you want to rip a 4' 2x4 at an angle - a table saw would work the best.

Thanks marksr. You're right. :D "Rip" is the word that I've never used before. I don't have a table saw but my dad has one. So if I understand correctly, the saw itself would be positioned at an angle and not the 2 x 4 right? :o I need to get my own table saw!

Either the blade or the table top will tilt, then you push the 2x4 thru using the fence as a guide.

If you haven't used a table saw much, you might want to have your dad rip the 2X4 for you. Ripping a long piece of wood can sometimes cause problems. The kerf closes, the blade binds and you eat the 2X4.
Kickback from a table saw can ruin your day. Inattention can ruin your life. I have a one thumbed friend who was daydreaming while ripping 2X4's into furring strips. He was two thumbed when he started.

Well...I've never used a table saw before but have seen one using it. It looks really fun and would be a great toy to have, but...
<<<---I wanna keep these--->>> I daydream a lot too. :D so I'll be passing the job along to my dad or someone else.
BTW: Sorry about your friend.
Thanks for the tip.
