Hello,

I am in the process of converting an area of the garage into living space. (1/2 bath, and kitchenette) I have the 1/2" copper water supply run on the interior of the drywall about 5" above the floor. My question is can I install an electric baseboard heater in front of the pipe (basically shim it out an 1" or so, and install the heater in front of the pipe)? If not I will be very limited in where to position the heaters, because probably 12' of wall space has the pipe running along it. I would greatly appreciate any help, Ive spent the last 2 hours reading posts, and no body else has a scenerio even close.

Thanks in advance,

Terry

Floor level would be best. But I see nothing wrond with the one inch offset.

The heater would still be mounted at floor level like you said, but there would be a copper water pipe directly behind it. Thats where my concern is
water + electric = code violation????? Maybe it's not a big deal, after all you can mount these things close to a sink or toilet right?

thanks for the previous response, maybe I worry too much!

There is no water/electrical spacing type code. What do you think your clothes washer, dishwasher, etc are?

Only thing that will most likely be required in this case is a GFCI receptacle.
