I am struggling with a BearTracker that I let sit for about 5 years. Although I drained the gas when I put it up, I am now having the same problem. Probably varnish on the jet. I put in new gas. drained carb and apparently overtightened drain plug. Now dripping. Disconnected carb so I could access internals and sprayed in some carb cleaner. No improvement yet.
I don't know if you have a manual, but mine says in part "CAUTION - the carburetor was set at the Yamaha factory after many tests. If the settings are disturbed by someone without sufficient technical knowledge, poor engine performance and damage may result." They go on to tell you that you need a tachometer to adjust the idle speed (only owner carb maint recommended). I guess mine is going to the shop.
