I'm following up on an earlier post about finding a bigger drive sprocket (and a thread on the lawnmower forum)... The 12-tooth sprocket fit perfectly and my sons are loving the faster, modified riding mower (started off as a free, junked rustbucket on the side of the road, Craftsman model 502.254172).
Take a look...

So now I want to find bigger rear wheels so it will go faster. I just got some PB Blaster to see if I can get the wheels off (I couldn't before with WD40 and a hammer). Anything in particular I should be careful about? Any suggestions on where to find the wheels (cheaply - - so far I've invested less than $30, aside from gas, and want to keep this as a fun and inexpensive project)?
My sons "helped" me strip it down, paint it and rebuild the carb and they are learning about engines and stuff along the way. Any other ideas about what we can do to this thing? And again, any ideas about the rear wheels?
Thanks!
michael
