I am about to purchase a home that is 7 yers old, and it has a tempstar 10
heat pump. I can't seem to find out much about that brand .I would like to know how it compares to other heat pumps.
Question....how long approx does this unit last until problems start to evolve.
What should I look for...Someone please give me some Idea.....

If put in right . Most units should give you a good 15 years. Keep them clean and a new filter ever 30 too 90 days. Not over a MERV 5 filter

Tempstar makes a decent unit. I have installed many of them and have serviced enough. They are made by ICP "not Insane Clown Posse either". It's International Comfort products. They also make Heil, Comformaker, Arcoaire, and KeepRite.
Hard to tell when a particular unit will become problemsome as that all depends on how well it was maintained. If the heatpump gets a lot of use you're looking at 12 - 15 year life on it maybe. But on the other side I have serviced 30 y/o heatpumps.
