I have a spot about the size of a quarter on my TV stand that is down to the bare wood, I had left an air freshner refill lid on it. What is the best way to restore the finish and the depth of the area?

Before you get into a great deal of furniture refinishing, try this.....take the meat of a pecan, break it in half and rub it on the area. The oils from the pecan will cause the wood to swell slightly and will also bleed the stain from the surrounding area. I have done this many times to finer furniture, and antiques with good results. Cheap. Its the labor that costs so much.
