I have a split level house built in 1967 where half the house sits on a concrete slab. I am in the process of replacing paneling in one room with drywall and I noticed a couple areas that appear to have moisture. The slab has an 18 inch brick wall around the perimeter upon which the wood framing rests. There is a 3/4 " gap between the slab and the brick wall. There is plywood attached to the brick that was used to provide a surface to nail the paneling to. The plywood fills the gap between the slab and the brick wall.
I have removed the plywood that was rotted and was thinking of putting down some kind of vapor barrier. I tried filling the gap where I removed the plywood with Great Stuff insulating foam but I am not sure if this is the best way to do this.
