My house smelled like a broken vaccuum cleaner belt every time the blower came on for the A/C. Is it possible that a belt in the heat pump broke? Are there even belts in heat pumps?

If your airhandler is older then it's quite possible that it has a belt driven blower. You'll have to remove the panels on your airhandler and check it out.

Is the filter clean and new??? The coil clean drain Pan clean ?? Blower motor ok
