I have been getting eaten alive by mosquitos at my house. I really got bit a lot when i mowed the lawn. I went to Home Depot and picked up some insect control spray for a hose end sprayer. Can this be applied successfully around the house?

Does anyone have anty other suggestions or experience in this area. I really want to get rid of these things. Oh I have no standing water on the property that I know of. Is there anything else that could be attracting them?

Ouch! :o

Follow the directions of the insect spray. I would use one that's effective against mosquito larvae or adults.

Mosquitoes are attracted by perspiration, warmth, body odor, carbon dioxide, and light. For yourself, I would use a repellent that can be applied on your skin and clothing.

I will probably spray tomorrow morning. We have been having very humid temps here in southern california so they are out in full force.

Thanks.

Yeah...lovely weather eh? I'm in Southern CA too. ;) No mosquitos hanging around here though. Whew. I hope it works out for you.

Also, seriously, follow the directions. Don't overspray on the insect control spray b/c it doesn't do any better.

Hello: lbphathead19

An alternate temp solution may be to use mosquito in-cent repellent candles. Especially if you have an outdoor patio area, partially or fully covered or enclosed. And if you can stand the smell...:)

Such candles can be found in super markets, big box stores, local hardware stores and also camping supply departments and camping supply stores, to name a few possible locations.

The green ring type, used almost exclusively for camping, work best in my opinion. (IMO) Found in camping supply departments of many stores and always in camping supply stores.

Insect sprays for lawns and gardens will work in most cases. However, there are several precautions that need to be observed. Mosquitoes can come from anywhere, since they fly. The sprayed mosquito repellents, used on lawns and gardens, thus have limited and short term effect, as a result.

I agree, do not overspray (I have tried) it does no good. Just follow the instructions.
