Hi guys, If you remember, I have a Vista 10P in my RV (which I asked a couple of questions on here to get going) and at this point I am installing a 15P in my home, Got it all up and going pretty good. I have a question that you probably don't hear every day. Can I program my system in my home to also receive the 5809 smoke detector signal in the RV? I would be using one wireless transmitter and receiving it to 2 separate PC boards. Is that possible?

It may be possible, but not recommended. Wireless devices are supervised, so if you drive away in the RV. The house system will be "looking" for the smoke detector and will throw trouble codes. Keep them seperate. You could, however, install a wireless keypad into the RV system and monitor and control the RV's system via the wireless keypad from the house. Just make sure you put the wireless keypad in the RV when you go on a trip.

You can do that with the smoke detector and program it as an unsupervised device. I would not say to do that cause you will lose the supervision of that device, but it will work. It will keep the system from going into trouble when you leave.

What about the range issue? Seems too unreliable considering all the walls and possible interference from outside.

Yes it is possible to program the device into two panels. The distance could be a factor, but you can over-come that by adding a 5800RP in the end of the house that is closest to the RV. Secondly it will not hurt to program the device as unsupervised in the house panel because the panel in the RV will be checking it every 60 to 90 minutes, thus if there is a problem the panel in the RV will let you know.

Guess I could bypass this zone in the home unit while the RV is on the road. Would that work? Also, What are the pH options of the 15P. I read where it will dial your pager and send a numerical code. Is there any more elaborate ways to work with it such as being able for it to call your cell and give you and audible description of the alarm? Ideally if it could call my wife and myself on cells, and with some type of recording give us the alarm description. Is that in any way possible? Can it text message? I don't even own a pager.

You cannot bypass a fire zone. Just enroll as an unsupervised zone, so it won't look for it in the house.

Back to the question about the 15P sending a message to a cell phone, is that possible? All I read about is that it just sends a code to a pager. Are there any add-ons that you can get from Ademco to upgrade this option?

These panels are meant to send a signal to an alarm receiver that decipehers the format code and sends the signal to a dispatcher via automation system. They were not and are not designed to send a message to your cell phone. You can set up paging, and some have set this up on cell phones, but it is a rather mickey mouse solution. You could look into a voice dialer that attaches to the bell circuit, but again, this would not be an ideal solution. You can get monitoring for a reasonable cost. And, in fact, with most National companies you can get a greatly reduced rate if the simply activate the panel and no install. With monitoring you will get a live dispatcher that will call you and tell you what type of alarm is activated, burglar, fire or panic. And what area of the structure is affected. Plus, you may qualify for an insurance discount.

I agree with kcxj!

I would look into getting it monitored. My monitoring only costs $116 a year. My home owner insurance gives me a $200/yr discount for having it, so I make money on the deal.
