I recently had a water line break in my home and have a few questions about wet insulation....
1..will wet insulation dry after time or should it be replaced?
2..will damp insulation in a ceiling or wall cause mold to grow....
thanks

It will dry out but it will take a long time. Need to remove it ASAP before mold starts to grow. Wet sheet rock must be dried in less than 24 hours or their is a chance mold will grow.

1. It will not dry and it must be replaced. Fans and dehumidifiers won't do it.
2. Yes. Even the dust in the fiberglass will support mold growth.
Get it out quick and let the wood dry. In the summer, a day or two makes a big difference.
