Need Help.have 19 yr. old heat pump.
basement unit is working
outdoor unit is working.fan on
the air is not very cold.a/c man said compressor is shot.will not just replace compressor.
also can i still use during winter for heat?
will adding freon help?please any advice?

If thats for sure then its no cool or heat at all
Could call another tech to look at it. But 19 years old Id say thats it get a new set up inside and out. You will save $$$ in the long run. The new unit will have a much better SEER and HSPF on it. Also if you get a seer over 15 you can get a tax credit from the IRS. Be sure and get 3 bids for the job
