Hi
I have had my new Vista 20/6160 working for about a week now. Today I tried adding a 6150 as well - using the existing wiring left from my old Brinks system. When I power it up the backlight works. When I press 1 and 3 at the same time it lets me change the id number to 17. When I press 1 and 3 again it shows me 17 but that is it - nothing is displayed in the LCD area. No other status - The ready / armed lights are NOT lighted.
Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like either the wiring to/from the panel or keypad is wrong.
After browsing the manual, do you have 2000ohm resistors installed across the 8 hardwired zones not in use on the panel?

The 8 hardwired zones ARE in use on the panel. I have no wireless stuff. The 6160 has been working fine for a week now - and still works. Both the 6150 and 6160 go to the same terminal at the panel.
The 6150 isn't for wireless only systems is it ?

If it were a wireless keypad, it would say 6150RF.
Give me a few minutes and I will look through some manuals to help you out. I'm not a pro, just a avid DIYer :)
Double check your wiring on the keypad to make sure the right color wire is in the correct terminal.
If you have the Vista 20 and not the Vista 20P, SE, etc, the keypads are non addressable so the keypad should be set to address 31.

Thanks
In the mean time I wired up another (new) 6150 in another room and I get the exact same (bad) result as the other 6150. Meanwhile the 6160 continues to work great.
Do I need to do something else after setting the keypad id ? Do I need to somehow tell the system that I now have 3 keypads wired ?
Btw the 6160 is id 16 and the 2 6150s are 17 and 18.
(It is a vista 20P)

Have you assigned the keypads their partitions?
Keypad #2 (17) = field *190 , 1
Keypad 3 (18) = field *191, 1
Here's the installer manual:

That was it !
I was reading too fast. I thought *190/*191 were used to set the id. In fact for *190 it did display id of 17 in response and in the lower right corner of the 6160 display it said "190" not "00"...
I think I am set. Thanks again.

Hi
I've had my (self) installed vista 20p system for over a year. It has a 6160 and two 6150 keypads. About a week ago I noticed that one of the 6150 pads said "not ready", "ac". I just tried resetting the keypad by a) powering up b) enter program mode and c) entered 1,0 for each of the keypad options (190 - 196).
d) exit program mode.
Now nothing at all is displayed on the suspect keypad. The other two keypads are fine.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

Life is cruel - I did a search and I see that I posted the same problem in July of last year but for some reason I can't retrieve the thread...
The keypad DOES display an id of 18 (the other 2 pads are 16 and 17). Otherwise only the backlight is lit.
