Hi I'm new to this site. I'm renovating my Mother's farmhouse, and I’m having a new Granby 330 gal vert. tank put in the basement. My questions are...
1. My research so far on Granby tanks has turned up nothing bad, but I wanted to hear if anyone has any bad experiences with Granby tanks, or any of the 330 gal tanks?
2. The heating company that won the bid, said that pumping oil out of the old underground tank to fill in the new Granby wouldn't hurt the tank or the oil burner, which is an old Dynatherm 48, but still runs at 86%. Other oil companies said this could cause damage to the heater. Should I use oil from my old tank???
Any answers would be much appreciated.

I've been using Granby Tanks for years & only had one bad one. It didn't leak right away but about a week later. They replaced it without question.
I do not suggest using the oil from the old tank. To do so is simply "seeding" the new tank with bacteria from the old, not to mention the possibility of water. If I have a customer who insists on using the oil from the old tank, I keep my suction pipe 12" off the bottom of the old tank. The bottom 12" goes to a waste oil hauler.
