I would like to install a pair of motion sensor floodlights on the exterior of my house. Problem is, the house is not wired for it, and it would be a major project. Do I have any decent alternatives (battery powered)? I see there are some solar powered options, but it's the northeast, and are they bright enough?

Your only reasonable option is to run wiring. This is usually not as hard as it looks, especially for an electrician.

If you buy and read several books on home wiring, you may realize that you can even do it yourself.
