Can anyone tell me about geo thermal units and if they are out of the range of median income families? I have a forced air gas unit now. Is it a possibility without having to brake the bank?
how much yard space do I need for an average square foot house?

Geo system may cost a lot up front, but in the long run, runs pretty cheap. A friend of ours got his system last fall, and been very pleased with it..
No longer need to worry about getting his LP tank filled, his heat pump is tied into his water heater so he has "Free" hot water. He said his system will pay for itself in about 4 to 5 years.
I'd call a dealer who does Geo system. and have them come out to your home and see what all is needed for your home..

In my area, they mostly use verticle loops rather than horizontal thereby reducing the amount of yard space required. If I remember correctly, they fiqure one well per ton to ton & a half.
