The answer to this question may be a "duh" but please bear with me. I woke up this a.m. and found a puddle of water on the floor. I pulled the Kenmore 596.79274991 away from the wall and found that the water was leaking from where the ice maker water supply tube enters the round fill tube elbow. I shut the water supply off, removed the speed clip, pulled the tube out, looked at it, it seemed fine, put the tube back, put the clip back and it continued to drip. Now, folks, this doesn't look like brain surgery here but the clip seems like it should be holding fine yet it continues to drip. I tried a plastic cable tie but that didn't work. I tried the smallest hose clamp I have...that didn't work.

I looked up into the elbow and I see that the orifice is very small...is there something causing a build-up of pressure? BTW, the ice-maker has been working fine.

Would someone explain this? Thanks.

I removed the icemaker (3 screws, 35 seconds) and discovered that the fill tube is filled with solid ice. Why did that happen?

Pulled the tube out, melted the ice and replaced it. Now I'm waiting to see what happens. If I understand some posts, this problem may have been caused by a "leaky" solenoid that allows water to pass after it has been energized for the proper amount of time by the valve in the IM. Is this correct?

The inlet valve can go bad and let a little water seep through. Does it still drip after you thawed the tube? What kind of water lines to you have.

"BTW, the ice-maker has been working fine."

Until now, right?

Could also be low water pressure.
