have removed all the plaster from a room i want insulate and drywall, all that is left is brick there was firring strips to hold lathe up but i took that down and will put 2by4s flat with foam board insultion in between them. want to put them up 2 ft on centers. this is okay? right

It should be fine - I assume you'll use 1.5" foam for the cavity.

The 2x's should be PT but you probably know that :D

i'm gonna use celotex board but they no longer make it, well they make it for western states but i called the company and they said dow chemicals is using the same technique with there tuff-r board.

Make sure the wall cavity is deep enough to allow space for proper size electrical boxes for receptacles and switches. Studs should be 16 in. on center for drywall.

16" centers is preferred for drywall framing but if the insulation is a flat stryofoam [or similiar] 24" centers will be fine. Good point to remember about making allowances for the electrical.
