i recently installed a ceiling fan in my son's room and now have some probs. all of the wires were the same color except for the ground, and there were several in the box. apparently, everything was wired in series (i think that is what it's called). now, the light and fan work, but the bathroom exhaust fan, the hall light and one outlet in my son's room don't work. i'm no electrical genius...as you can tell! i'd like to get things back to normal. is there a way to achieve that? what is the possibility that the ceiling fan/light is too much draw on the system? i should mention, this is a mobile home....1998 model. total pain!! any help is appreciated.
thanks...and great forum!

You need to tell us all the wires in the ceiling fan box and how they are currently connected. They can't all be the same colour. One wire from each cable must be white. It could have discoloured and be yellow or dark but you should be able to tell which one used to be white.

thanks, i'll have to climb back up there. from what i remember, the jacket (insulation) is white and i can't remember seeing anything remotely different about the wires, but i'll look again. i'm at work today and having to type this off memory. hopefully tomorrow i can check it out.
