Outdoor Power Equipment and Small Engines - Craftsman/42"/DECK WHEELS

Hey,

Does anyone else have a Craftsman, 42" riding mower with a manual to show the parts break down of their deck? I need to know the part #(s) of the deck wheels and the part #(s) of any bolts/nuts used to fasten them to the deck brackets.

Sears is'nt any help. They maintain that the $40 kit they have to replace it with will work. I don't doubt it will, but their kit has 4 wheels. My deck only has 2 wheels. So, if I can get their part #'s (specific to the wheels themselves), then I can interchange them with some aftermarket.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Having worked on many of these decks and also installing the kit, it's worth the money to have a gauge wheel at each corner, so, go for the kit. It's merely updating something that should already have been done at the factory. For future purposes, be sure to include the chassis ID numbers when you post with any questions specific to a particular model and if you have questions regarding the engine be sure to include these ID numbers as well. Having a 42" deck is generally too vague for anyone to help you out, as many, many of these decks have been manufactured over the years and with such, there is a high liklihood that changes have occured over this time.

Puey, thanks for the input. The model # happens to be 917272352. You're stating that the kit is an upgrade which adds 2 additional wheels to the deck (which I assume has to be on the front)? I hav'nt seen this kit's contents, but how will the two extra wheels go on the front of the deck that has no brackets for wheels themselves?

I haven't looked at the contents of the kit in question, but the last one I installed had the brackets for the wheels also, and directions on how to line them up and install using existing holes, and I think 2 holes had to be drilled.

I'll go with the 4 wheel kit then. Thanks for the help.
