I have an old Wards riding mower that will be needing a new deck
shortly .... Are most decks compatable with all makes & models or
do i need to find one for my make & model ? ... Thanks in advance

NO mower decks are not compatable with all makes & models.

Look on the mower frame and find the model and serial #'s of your unit,
reply back with these #'s and someone will be able to look your mower up an give you the part # to order and probiably a ruff ast. of the cost.

Guy is correct, even one manufacturer may have different setups with different chassis' in their lineup. Yours will be an MTD chassis but this doesn't mean that any, say 38", deck will fit up to your chassis. You'll likely want to find a good used deck, if your is not reasonably repairable, since a new deck will be extremely costly. Hopefully, you have some lawn mower bone yards in your neck of the woods.
