I have a bathroom light fixture where the glass shade is held in place with a large plastic nut. What is this part called and where can I get replacenets?

Contact the manufacturer of the light for an exact replacement, or visit a lighting store. Note that I did not say visit a home improvement store, although they may be able to help. A store that specializes in lighting will be able to help you.
