I have a ceiling fan in my bedroom. My DH loves a fan at night and I hate it. The noisy "ticking" type sounds drive me crazy. The noise does not seem to be coming from the light or fan pull cords dangling against the globe of the light (which I suspected). Are there any of you that are familar with this noise and know if it is fixable? Most fans make this noise to me (sensitive ears I guess). Also, would a new fan most likely fix this problem or do you think it could also be caused by what it's installed to (above the ceiling)?
I'm in need of some sleep. So, thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Some thoughts:
You can check the screws that hold the blades to the motor. If the screws are loose, tighten them.
Also, check the screws holding the blades to the iron piece. Those may be loose too. Take the blades off and check those and tighten them if needed.
