I have a top-load Maytag washer that is about 7 years old. I have had the transmission and the water pump repaired as well as some belts replaced by an authorized Maytag repairman to the tune of $380 and my washer still doesn't work!
The problem was intermittent at first and now is with about 90% of the loads.
The clothes are soaking wet at the end of the spin cycle. There are usually a small amount of suds in the bottom of the washer. At first, I would just run the spin cycle again and the problem was fixed. Now it might take 6 times through the spin cycle before the water is out.
When I hear the machine start the spin cycle, sometimes I hear water draining before hand and other times I don't. When I don't hear the water draining sound, I can be assured that the clothes are going to be soaking wet.
The machine often sounds off balance, but doesn't shake like it should if it was really off balance. I check the self-leveling legs repeatedly. Often times when I raise the lid, the inner tub is off center. Seems like it might be spinning in an oval fashion.
There is mildew/mold inside the center of the agitator and inside the fabric softener dispenser. Sometimes the fabric softener is still in the dispenser after the load is complete. I clean the mildew/mold and it comes right back.
I am now hearing an ticking noise during the wash cycle and it seems like the machine is having to work really hard.
I would appreciate any help you can offer. It seems like we should be able to fix this problem and not have to buy a new machine!
Thanks!

Is this problem happening right after you just paid out the $380 to the repairman, or is this simply the amount of money you have paid repairmen over time on this machine?
IF the guy was just there to try to fix your current problem and did all that work and it did not help, you'd better call them back and tell them you paid for work done without getting results.
Does your machine drain into a drain pipe or into a laundry tub? Does it drain out incomplete no matter what water level you select? Does yor machine drain, stop, then spin?, or do you have the kinof machine that starts spinning the tub slowly (at first) while it drains at the same time, and then picks up speed to a fast spin? Does the machine actually complete the entire cycle and come to a stop at the end of where the off posiiton is?, and that it was spinning right up until the very end of that cycle?
HOW long ago was that belt changed? (It may be loose.) Ever smell a rubber odor?
