I have a remarkable, 21 year old! Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator/freezer- which has served us VERY well over the years. However, the handle is coming loose - and since we have the wood-look panel on the front, we are unable to see how/where to tighten it...

You will need to get at the fasteners for the handle by removing the inside door liner.
Not exactly sure what yours looks like but you would normally move the gasket out of the way to get at the liner screws.
You need to be very careful with the liner because after all these years it will be brittle.
It is sometimes easier to do if you remove the door and lay it on a table.
