Going to be putting a ceiling fan up in the basement & it is
an industrial ceiling fan with steel blades. Need a guard for
it. I have seen them online & here is an example of one...

The some that I was looking at were a little pricey so maybe
I can make one out of a lightweight thin grate or cage, etc.
Any ideas always welcomed.
Thanks!

You probably don't need a guard if you followed the installation instructions. Most require at least 7 foot clearence from the blades to the floor.
If you still require a guard maybe you should rethink where the fan will be installed.

If you are putting up a ceiling fan with a big guard then you are likely doing so for air movement.
There are other ways to get the air moving without having to guard a fan.
